In Beginning iOS 7 Development, I included a new chapter on making games with Sprite Kit. That chapter walks you through the creation of a simple but fun game called TextShooter, which you can find in the book's source code archive.

After writing that chapter, I spent some time completely a couple of things so that TextShooter could ultimately be submitted to the App Store. It's available now, costs nothing, and is both challenging and fun, IMHO!

Also, I've made the enhanced version entirely open source, so beyond what's covered in the book, you can also see how I handle Game Center, create tutorial levels, and more. See the full source code on github.

  • This is a brilliant resource - I'm going to have a play then check out the source.

    Thanks a lot!
